Oral history is one of the best ways to get first-hand memories and reflections on important events, movements and people.
By sitting down with an interviewee, asking pertinent questions and giving people the opportunity to share memories and thoughts, oral history allows for a new type of heritage content to be unveiled.
Oral history interviews can make for fascinating listening experiences, providing insights that text books, newspapers and the ‘official’ version of events just do not offer.
For this reason, oral history projects are becoming increasingly popular, and Goldfinch Heritage can help.

We have worked with heritage organisations to lead oral history initiatives, conduct interviews and transcribe interviews once completed.
A prominent project we completed was with 2Funky Arts for their Exploring Leicester’s Hidden Nightlife exhibition. For this project, we interviewed a number of people involved in the Leicester scene over the years, helping to create an engaging and exciting set of oral history interviews.
If you have an idea for a heritage project, adding an oral history dimension can be well worthwhile. And if you need support, Goldfinch Heritage is here to help.
Please do get in touch to discuss your oral history requirements. We will be very happy to help!
