Hello! I’m Sean, Founder and Director of Goldfinch Heritage Ltd.
Goldfinch Heritage is dedicated to delivering high-quality freelance historical research, heritage marketing and heritage consultancy services to organisations in need of support in these areas.
For ten years between 2012 and 2022, I worked as a writer across different industries – from journalism to publishing to digital marketing.
While I love to write, I always wanted to explore my interest in historical research. So in 2019, I enrolled on the MA Urban Conservation course at the University of Leicester’s Centre for Urban History. I loved studying again and successfully achieved a Distinction, as well as receiving the 2020 David Reeder Prize for Best Dissertation in Urban History.
After many months of careful consideration, in July 2022 I decided to take the leap into full-time freelancing, and ‘Carduelis Content & Historical Research’ – the name I originally operated under – was born.
I quickly grew this freelance business, providing services to the heritage industry such as cultural heritage marketing and heritage exhibition curation, while also providing freelance content and marketing services to clients outside the heritage industry.
However, I quickly realised that the name Carduelis was 1. Difficult to pronounce, 2. Difficult to remember, 3. Difficult to spell. Good work Sean!
So in 2024, I decided to rebrand the business as Goldfinch Heritage, and in 2026 became a limited company, specialising in heritage services, such as historical research, heritage project services, heritage marketing, and heritage statements for planning applications.
In terms of heritage accreditations, I am an affiliate member of the Institute of Historic Building Conservation (IHBC).
It has been a wonderful journey so far and being able to work with some amazing people and organisations in the heritage industry has been an absolute pleasure. Here’s to many more years of success!
Say hello and let’s see how Goldfinch Heritage can help you meet your requirements.
