Welcome to the Goldfinch Heritage portfolio, where you can browse through the various cultural heritage projects I have worked on over the years. I am proud to have some fantastic clients listed here, and some amazing projects that have been a joy to be involved with.

Delivering for heritage clients is always rewarding, helping organisations engage with new audiences and uncover the past to shed light on the present and future. Please browse through the examples below and get in touch if you would like to work with Goldfinch Heritage!

Tell Tall Tales

I was chosen as lead researcher for Pedestrian’s flagship Tell Tall Tales heritage project. I worked with a group of young people to explore and uncover stories around folklore in Leicestershire, before creating a research document that outlined these stories for other creative practitioners involved in the project. I also presented my work to a group of creatives, and contributed content for a graphic novel.

Black Music and the Record Store

I worked with 2Funky Arts to support their project exploring the history and legacy of black music record shops in England. My work included everything from writing podcast scripts to interviewing participants, sourcing imagery and transcribing interview transcriptions.

Exploring Leicester's Hidden Nightlife

I worked with 2Funky Arts as a researcher and content writer for a project and exhibition covering the vibrant history of Leicester’s nightlife. The project centres on venues and events from the 70s to the present day, focusing specifically on music of Black origin. I conducted oral history interviews, completed archival research and created content for the exhibition, which was funded and supported by Historic England.

Grime Opera Heritage Document

I was engaged by Pedestrian to create a heritage document charting the history of Leicester’s Grime scene. Pedestrian organised an impressive Grime Opera event, and the heritage document was used to inform a film created to showcase that event. I interviewed a number of figures from Leicester’s Grime scene to create the heritage document, and also helped set up recorded interviews with these figures for the film company.

LeicesterShire Historic Churches Trust

I coordinate the annual Ride + Stride fundraising event, which helps raise money for repairs to historic churches, on behalf of LeicesterShire Historic Churches Trust. I also oversee the Trust’s social media accounts and help spread the word about the work the Trust does.

17 Friar Lane

I was asked to conduct research on this historic Georgian building in Leicester City Centre by its new owner. Built in the late-eighteenth century, 17 Friar Lane was home to a number of important families and key figures in Leicester civic life. I created an in-depth research document for the owner, covering the story of the building ahead of a sympathetic restoration, which has allowed it to become a modern office space.
