Sean is an absolute delight to work with. Sean and Goldfinch Heritage make history exciting – bringing historical research into the fore through curiosity, storytelling and curation. We worked with Sean on Reebok and Walsh, a 30 minute non-fiction documentary for a large-scale exhibition to be viewed by 1000s of in-person visitors at Bolton Museum and audiences digitally too. As filmmakers, working with a historical researcher like Sean is a real pleasure because he understands narrative threads and interesting angles that will bring a documentary to life. The finished product is a testament to Sean’s input and I cannot recommend him highly enough.

Sean was a pleasure to work with. He worked really well as part of the team at Soft Touch, always open to and developing new ideas. He forged a really good understanding with the young people the project engaged with too. Throughout, Sean produced really helpful, clear briefs that engaged young people he ran a sequence of sessions and supported trips that gave participants a fresh take on the estate and how to think about how their built environment interacted with their lived experience and those of their parents and others. The young participants were really keen for us to engage Sean in other work we do in the future – as are we!

We initially engaged Sean for our Arts Council funded project, ‘Grime Opera’, to lead on the heritage element we were developing. Having been so impressed and pleased with the work he did, we didn’t hesitate to bring him on board for our National Lottery Heritage Fund project ‘Tell Tall Tales’ as the lead researcher and writer. Sean really is great to work with – he’s attentive to the project and its needs, he is proactive and pragmatic, and he worked well with the different stakeholders in the project, including our partners, writers and illustrators. Our project was a great success and a significant part of that is down to the work Sean did. He is a pleasure to work with and I can’t wait for the next opportunity we will have to engage him again.

I have worked with Sean on a couple of large scale projects now and both times the research documents he has provided have been crucial to the success of the team’s work. As well as being fantastically competent and hard working, Sean is also really easy to work with and brings a warm and confident approach to the projects. I have already written Sean into future pitches as I am keen to work with him again.
